for those living with early breast cancer and onwards into remission.

What is early
breast cancer?
Early breast cancer refers to cancer that is confined to the breast or nearby lymph nodes and has not spread to distant parts of the body.1 Detecting breast cancer at this stage is crucial, as it is often highly treatable with a good prognosis.2
The primary goal of treatment is to remove or control the cancer before it has a chance to spread, increasing the likelihood of successful outcomes. Regular screenings and early detection play a vital role in improving survival rates and treatment effectiveness.2
Here to help you
keep ahead
Whether you’re looking for practical guidance, emotional support, or inspiring stories from those who have experienced a similar journey, Keep Ahead is here for you. Together, we can navigate this journey with hope, strength, and compassion, helping you to understand your diagnosis, your risk of recurrence and the available treatment options so you can keep ahead of breast cancer recurrence.

Using past successes to motivate moving forward
It takes persistence and determination to face cancer and achieving remission is an important moment for many. These qualities are just what you’ll need to accompany you in the next chapter of your journey – be it sticking with your adjuvant therapy, planning follow up appointments or re-building your life after cancer diagnosis.

LIVING BEYOND THE BELL: WHAT COMES AFTER BREAST CANCER?
Ringing the ‘end of treatment’ bell is an important milestone for people living with early breast cancer, and many think it is the last step in what has been a traumatising experience. But the transition from active treatment to being in remission isn’t linear and looks different for everyone.
In the short film Amy Dowden and Leanne Pero, both experienced dancers and breast cancer advocates, explored the highs and lows of life after active breast cancer treatment through dance. The film follows their individual stories of living with breast cancer, revealing how the fear of recurrence once held them back – and how they found the strength to overcome it, reclaiming control of their lives.
